We’re all human, and we all have strengths and weaknesses. The best linemen know their own strengths and weaknesses as well as they know their coworkers’ strengths and weaknesses. That’s why it’s important to interview candidates in a way that allows them to demonstrate how they would handle a specific situation at the company.
What are the qualities that make a great lineman?
What is your biggest strength?
Your biggest strength is your ability to work well with others. You know how to get along with people, even if they’re not like you or have different personalities. You’re patient and kind, and this makes it easy for others to talk openly with you about their problems. Your coworkers appreciate your ability to listen without judging them or giving advice unless they ask for it first.
You also have the ability to work under pressure–even extreme levels of pressure when things are really bad at work! Because of this trait, people trust that whatever situation arises in the field or office will be handled appropriately by Linemen who are strong-willed enough not give up until everything gets resolved (or as close as possible).

What is your biggest weakness?
With this question, the interviewer is trying to see if you can be honest about your weaknesses. There’s no right or wrong answer here, but you should always be prepared with an answer that doesn’t make it seem like you have none.
A good way to approach this question is by thinking about areas where you could improve yourself and then answering accordingly. For example: “I think my biggest weakness is that I work too hard sometimes–I’m always trying to do things better than they need to be done.” Or maybe: “My biggest weakness would probably be my short temper.”
How do you handle conflict in the workplace?
You should always be open to conflict in the workplace. Conflict is an inevitable part of any team environment, and it’s important for everyone to be able to handle it.
If you have a problem with someone on your team or if they’re causing trouble, don’t avoid bringing it up. Instead, talk about the issue directly with them so that both parties can come up with solutions together. If one person doesn’t want to talk about something because they’re afraid of getting into an argument, suggest having another meeting at which both sides can speak freely without worrying about hurting feelings or creating tension between employees–this will help prevent any unnecessary drama from arising later on down the road!
What are your short-term career goals and long-term career goals?
When you are asked this question, it’s important to think about how your short-term and long-term goals align. For example, if your short-term goal is to become a lineman and your long-term goal is to be an electrician, then the company wants to know how those two roles fit together.
The interviewer may ask this question because they want to see if you have a plan for yourself or if you’re just winging it. If there isn’t any overlap between what you want now versus later in life, then there might be some issues with motivation on your part–or maybe even some unrealistic expectations!
How would you motivate an unmotivated team member to work harder?
You can’t make someone else do the work, but you can help them find their motivation.
Select a coworker and identify two things about his or her work that he or she does particularly well. Then give one piece of constructive feedback on one of the areas in which he or she needs to improve. Illustrate with a story or example and show how you would use this feedback in future interactions with this individual.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the saying “a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.” That’s why it’s important to interview linemen who have experience and know how to handle problems. We’ve put together this list of lineman interview questions to help you determine whether or not a candidate has what it takes for the job:

You need to have a good understanding of the job you’re applying for and what the employer is looking for. The interviewer will ask you questions that will determine if you are qualified or not, so it’s important to know what they expect from their employees.
If there are specific qualities that they are looking for in an employee, make sure that your resume highlights these qualities. If a candidate says she is very organized and always on time, ask her how this helps her in her work day. If she says that she works well with others and is friendly, ask what specific things she does to ensure she maintains these traits while working on site with other linemen or crew members who may not share these same qualities.
