Corruption is a an evil that is spreading its poison in the roots of nation. Corruption in simple words is when a person in power decides to misuse his power in making money for himself/herself. A corrupt person takes a lot of bribes from people, and in return do illegal work. Corruption takes place because the government system is so infiltrated by people who have no morals and who come into power just to make illegal money. Today, everyone is suffering so much to make money that when they get the chance, they exploit it.

Corruption has affected the country so badly it dissuades people in foreign countries from investing.  Housing societies are the best example of corruption. The main reason for corruption in India is lack of integrity among the leaders, Poverty, which has demoralized the nation and the absence of moral content in education.

Corruption also give a bad image of the country in other countries. Rich countries often give aid in the form of money and goods to the poor countries. If they get a whiff that corruption is being done in the handling of the funds, they decide to withdraw their investment.

Corruption has a lot of disadvantages for the country. It discourages trade, investment, and friendly relations between countries. It is imperative that the developing nations should install strict measures that protect against corruption.

Corruption is defined as lack of integrity and honesty or to use a position of trust for personal benefits. In India for any kind of work that needed to be got done from government officer, he had to be bribed first. It does not matter whether the job was perfectly legal and part of his duty.

The corrupt employees went on to amass a large amount of wealth and lead a luxurious lifestyle. This corruption can be seen in every sphere of activity, from the sanctioning of loans to giving licenses or for booking the railway ticket and whether you want admission in a good college, you have to bribe first.

Today India has become an aspiring superpower with the fastest growing economy in the world, Indian companies are raking in millions. But sadly this has led to a more devastating form of corruption called ‘corporate corruption’. While the old corrupt employees of the olden days dealt with thousands or lakhs rupees and these modern corporates corrupt eat away millions of rupees. If all this money is put to use for developing the nation, we could easily feed the poor, treat the sick children, provide shelter to everyone, provide free education to deserving kids.

Some promising steps to root out corruption have come from government. A number of Investigative journalists through their sting operations and reports have nailed down quite a few high profile officers indulging in corruption. But still a lot more needs to be done. Each one of us can help in rooting out corruption by simply refusing to pay bribes to anyone, no matter how urgent our need is.

In other words, Corruption is when a person who is responsible for a task, and misuses that position for their own profit. Corruption includes bribery and embezzlement. Corruption is initiated by the people in power and politicians. Even we people bribe government employees to fasten their work or to get out of the crime. The level of corruption can be seen on bribing traffic police officer for not wearing a helmet or when private contractors bribe government individuals to get the tender of a public work. Strongholds of corruption are the departments like Banks, the P.W.D., Tele-communication, Railways, department dealing with exports and imports, taxes, quota-permits, Colleges and licences. Major Cause of Corruption in India are Greed for money- the thirst of earning more money makes a man walk on wrong path to get their goals so the bribe and become corrupt. Insufficient salaries are also a reason of corruption because government employees gets low salary as compared to a private sector employee, so they have to find wrong way to earn extra money. Most individual in India do not know their powers as a citizen and they don’t know how the system works so they find themselves helpless that they have to bribe to get their work do. So, illiteracy is also a reason for corruption. Today everyone is in hurry that they don’t want to wait for their work to be done. Hence they bribe the officers to get the things done fast. So, being impatience is also making our nation corrupt. Many Corrupt politicians are using their illegal money or black money by investing them into their own or someone else’s business to make it white.

India is the largest democratic country in the world and its governing system is very complicated. Because of these complicating processes nobody wants to get in any kind of problem so they find it easy to pay extra.

Corruption has a very bad affect on the lives of people in India. Corruption has long- lasting impact on the people in our country, the economy, and society such as there is a great loss to the people who are paying tax but that money is being misused and fall in pockets of corrupt peoples as a result Poor people are becoming poorer and rich people are getting richer day by day.

Corruption has affected the Indian economy very badly. To get rid of the corruption, Indian judicial system and every individual should take efforts. The Government should launch a vigorous campaign against this social evil of Corruption. So, lets join our hands and make India a corruption free country.
